Kip Kompin Cinema is our interactive evening series hosted at venue partner Poplar Union, showcasing cinematic talent and inspiration from Sierra Leonean filmmakers.
What to expect
Kip Kompin Cinema presents intimate evenings with Sierra Leone’s most amazing emerging filmmakers from home and across the diaspora. Join us as we introduce you to a world you’ve never been to before, a world that explores Sierra Leone from the perspective of creatives who live and breathe Sierra Leone, a world where you no longer need to go searching for quality Sierra Leonean films because we’ve done the searching for you.
Our number one goal is production quality so expect our films to be visually stunning as films are supposed to be.
Previous films screened include ‘Taxi’, produced by Jamil Sesay and Directed by Sierra Leone’s most promising Director, Ibramim ‘Wizik’ Koroma; award winning documentary ‘The New Boats’ which presents a riveting account of one community’s attempt to protect their livelihood and way of life; and ‘Profit Point’, a multi-award-winning film exploring the manipulative skills of the system towards Sierra Leonean citizens living in areas labelled by the ruling class as the ‘slums’.
